What is the CSC100?
The CSC100 is a complete re-engineering of our Magic: The Gathering card scanning system. It was built to overcome the limitations of previous generations and deliver major improvements in speed, accuracy, and ease of use.
This new model introduces true integration between the hardware and our new companion app, the TCG Archivist mobile app, creating a unified scanning platform built around reliability, precision, and community-driven improvement.
Why the CSC100 is Better
The CSC100 replaces a disconnected, timing-based workflow with a fully synchronized system. Previous devices advanced cards continuously without communicating with the app and relied entirely on third-party software to capture cards at the right moment. This meant cards could be missed, duplicate counts were often incorrect, and the overall experience required more care and manual correction than collectors wanted.
With the CSC100, the hardware and app stay synchronized throughout the scanning process. This communication eliminates missed cards, improves accuracy, and creates a smoother, more consistent scanning flow.
The system also supports over-the-air firmware updates, allowing both the hardware and app to improve together long after purchase.
The companion app adds powerful features such as collection management, search and filtering tools, live pricing, import/export tools, and cloud sync. Its recognition engine learns from user corrections and failure cases across the entire community, becoming more accurate over time and benefiting every user.
Why We Made These Changes
The redesign was driven by user feedback and by the limitations of the previous product line. While earlier devices proved automated scanning was possible, they were restricted by reliance on third-party apps and the lack of communication between hardware and software.
Collectors consistently asked for:
